Introduction:
The Lorenzetta Creek Hydro Project is a proposed 3 MW run-of-river project which will be located 14km southwest of Hope BC in the community of Laidlaw, BC. It will produce about 12 GWh per year of clean renewable electricity, which will be sold to BC Hydro under the Standing Offer Program (SOP). The electricity produced by the Project will contribute to supplying power to BC Hydro’s 1.7 million customers.
Project Description:
The intake weir will be located on Lorenzetta Creek at an elevation of approximately 700 metres above sea level (MASL). A portion of the flow from Lorenzetta Creek will be diverted into a penstock (18 – 26″ diameter). Water diverted through the penstock will travel downhill approximately 2.55 km to a single Pelton turbine located in the powerhouse. All water diverted by the Project will be returned to the creek via a tailrace.
